Welcome to London
Whenever people ask me which city first-time visitors to the UK should put at the top of their list, my answer is almost always London. As the capital of the United Kingdom, London is packed with history, culture, world-famous attractions, incredible food, vibrant nightlife, and family-friendly experiences.
Whether you’re planning a weekend city break or a longer holiday, London offers something for everyone. From royal palaces and iconic landmarks to hidden pubs and bustling food markets, this city never stops surprising me.
How to Get There
By Air
London is served by several major airports including Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, Stansted Airport, and London Luton Airport.
Most visitors arrive through Heathrow, which has excellent rail and Underground connections into central London.
By Rail
London’s main stations include London Euston, King’s Cross Station, Paddington Station, and London Victoria Station.
Fast trains connect London to most major UK cities.
By Road
The city is connected via the M1, M4, M11, M25 and several major routes. However, driving in central London can be challenging due to congestion and parking costs.
Public Transport
London’s public transport system is one of the world’s best. The London Underground, buses, river boats, trams, and overground rail services make getting around remarkably easy.
Best Time to Visit
I personally love visiting between April and September when parks are at their best and outdoor events are plentiful. December is also magical thanks to Christmas lights and festive markets.

Families often highlight the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and London Zoo, while couples tend to enjoy river cruises, theatre shows, and rooftop bars.
One common observation is that there is always something new to discover, no matter how many times you visit.
Keto Mbiri’s Final Thoughts
London is one of those rare cities that manages to combine centuries of history with constant innovation. Every visit feels different. One day you can be exploring a royal palace, the next sampling food from around the world, and later enjoying a West End show before ending the night in a lively Soho pub.
If you’re looking for a destination that offers culture, entertainment, family fun, great food, and unforgettable landmarks all in one place, London deserves a spot near the top of your travel bucket list.
